Miguel de Miranda Correa was born in New York and educated in Switzerland. At the age of 16 he received his first camera and was soon devoting most of his time to photography. By his early twenties he had worked as a professional photographer in Europe and moved to New York where he was an assistant to Hiro and then Richard Avedon.

During the next ten years his photographs appeared in Vogue, Elle, Depeche Mode, Claudia, Lui and other leading fashion magazines in America, Europe and Brazil. In the eighties, Correa changed careers and later returned to his first love, photography. His photographs combine technical play, dramatic composition and a painterly style to create evocative images that are simultaneously real and otherworldly.
